Can You Have A Spiritual Life of Fun and Freedom?
If you are anything like how most people are, if you hear a discussion about spiritual life or spirituality, you probably think of the nuns in monasteries or half naked yogis in the Himalayas. These days most people consider the word spirit as something that should not be discussed outside in public. Somehow most people think that a spiritual life is one that requires a lot of self sacrifice and allows no fun. The truth is very far away! Interestingly, as one day you will realize, a true spiritual life is not only one you enjoy divine ecstasy, but also it opens up doors that brings freedom most people cannot even dream of.
While many schools of thought hold many different ideas, basic spirituality can be summarized as follows:
a. There is an Intelligence that pervades all reality that is the source or the creator of this Universe.
b. This Divine Energy is the Source of all creation.
c. There is a reason for all things that happen and a purpose for this universe to exist.
d. To put it simply, the reason and purpose is evolution. It is the goal of the universe to evolve from lower states of being into higher states of intelligence and energy.
e. Human beings have always felt a strong sense of separation from God since the birth in a body of flesh and bones. Trying to find solace from this pain of separation (even unaware of what it is they really felt), humans have struggled in many ways through time immemorial. Some of the ways are trying to dominate others, accumulating material riches, distracting with things like food, drugs, sex etc.
f. When people reestablish this connection with God (find their awareness), they experience a real sense of peace and absolute bliss.
g. When people experience this freedom and bliss, they are driven from within to help others experience this also.
In essence, this is the goal and objective of a spiritual life.
Fascinatingly, as you awaken spiritually more and more, you begin to discover that there are many hidden forces that shape the way your life unfolds! These unseen forces begin to make all kinds of beneficial things happen for you, without you even asking for it. These are the miracles or serendipities that people on a spiritual journey commonly seem to experience and talk about. As you awaken more and more, the miracles and synchronicities keep happening in greater extent. It’s almost like God takes on an active interest in your everyday life to fulfill your desires. No wishes go unfulfilled, no prayers go unanswered. All prayers are answered in the most perfect way imaginable. You begin to enjoy a level of freedom and bliss that is almost unimaginable for most people!
When people see the yogi on the mountain what they do not see is here is someone who has given up silly little material gains and received a kingdom full of treasures. Someone who has received a freedom beyond time and space in exchange of our false sense of physical freedom. Someone who has sacrificed paltry physical pleasures to receive divine ecstasy! When you look at it this way, you suddenly understand the amazing stupidity of most white collar slaves who are trading their life for a credit card and a house. A true spiritual life does not mean that you have to give up material things, not if you want to. You can very well keep whatever you want to, be a family person and also spiritually focused, but sometimes its just nonsensical to carry the chains of our materially bound societies.
A true spiritual life prepares the devotee to see beyond the material obvious and perceive the deeper truths of the universe. Slowly you are able to levereage on the deeper laws of reality and use them in your own journey. When you are able to do that, life becomes filled with magic, miracles and wonder. The whole universe seem to align to bring your dreams into manifestation. For now your dreams are one with the dreams of the universe. The dreams of the One.
